Dhwaja Aarohan 52 Yard Long Colors

52 Yard Long

Devotees of Dwarkadheesh, after taking bath into Gomati, walks up the Chhapanpi sidi, enters into swarg dwar (gate of heaven); take darshans of Dwarkadheesh; looks at the peak and dhwajaji; and experience an immense spiritual and divine gratification.

Devotees of Lord Dwarkadheesh attach great significance to 52 yards' flag on Jagat Mandir. The number 52 is arrived at by taking into astronomical consideration and calculation involving 27 constellations, twelve zodiacs, nine planets and four directions. In short, the Dwarkadheesh is unique having reins of all natural elements of the universe, besides the mankind.

During the Lord Krishna's time, administration was run by 56 koti Yadavas. The name 'Chhappan sidi' (fifty six steps) also denotes it. Although koti is one crore (i.e. 10 million), here it indicates fifty-six divisions of administration. Out of fifty six administrators; Balram, Shri Krishna, Pradyumna and Anirudhji are incarnations of God. Devotees offer prayers to them in their respective temples and flags are flying high over these temples. These four Gods in turn bestow the devotee with purusharth (job), dharma (religion), arth (money), moksha (salvation). If these four are deducted from fifty six koti, balance fifty-two koti indicates residence of Yadav administrators of fifty-two divisions who were present in Dwarika of Krishna. They are not in Dwarka today but fifty two yards' dhwaja is a symbolic of fifty two koti Yadavas tailored together and named as Lord Krishna's dhwaja. Climbing fifty-six steps (Chhappan sidi) subsequent to cleansing ourselves in Gomati river is a reminder that for entering 'heaven' (Swarg-Dwar) one has to be clean and struggle through fifty six divisions. Thereafter one can have a glimpse of Dwarkadheesh and only with the blessings of Dwarkadheesh you can attain salvation (Moksha-Dwar).

It is a different matter that now a days pilgrims enter through 'Moksha Dwar', have a glimpse of the Lord and if time permits go to Gomati ghat through 'Swarg-Dwar' and down the Chhappan sidi. This is an entirely wrong sequence.

Symbols of the Sun and the Moon depicted on dhwaja indicate individual incarnation of the Lord. Administration of Dwarka was entrusted to group of Yadavas each from different sects i.e. Bhoj, Vrishni, Andhak, Atwah, Dasharha. Each of them would hoist a flag on his residence with a symbol of work carried out by him. Lord Krishna himself was closely inspecting it from his palace. These fifty two Administrators were to look, after defence, education, revenue, welfare, entertainment, religion etc.

It is said in Hari Vansh that 50 gates were arranged in Dwarka for entry and exit. On each gate a symbolic dhwaja would fly. Besides these 50 gates, there were two extra gates for entry into and exit from personal abode of the Lord Krishna. These gates were named as Swarga Dwar and Moksha Dwar. Thus combination of 52 flags of Dwarka's gates also imbibed into a 52 yard long Dhwaja of the Lord Krishna i.e. Dwarkadheesh.
